Yokohama downs Celtic in Nakamura's return

YOKOHAMA, Japan (AP) - Shunsuke Nakamura couldn't score in his homecoming Thursday as Yokohama F Marinos defeated Scottish champions Celtic 3-0 in a friendly.
Nakamura, who scored in Celtic's 4-1 season-opening win over Kilmarnock last weekend, came close for the visitors with a trademark free kick in the second half that sailed just over the net.
The former Yokohama midfielder received a warm round of applause when he came off midway through the second half.
First-half goals from Hideo Oshima and Norihisa Shimizu gave Yokohama a comfortable lead before substitute Kenta Kano completed the victory 12 minutes from time at Nissan Stadium.
"It's been a while since I've been back here so I enjoyed it," said Nakamura. "We've got the Champions League as well as the other games, so it is going to be pretty tough, but I have to deal with it and try and give everything I've got." |
